 The visit to the area of the Ancient Pieve of Mazzo offers not only locations of landscape and art-historical interest, but it also allows travellers to taste typical dishes of Valtellina’s gastronomic tradition, clear expression of the customs of mountain people. The cuisine of the valley is generally made up of “poor dishes” as few were- and still are today- the essential raw materials and ingredients provided by alpine cultures: buck wheat, potatoes, apples, nuts, chestnuts and grapes.
